Ryan Cronin | Solo Show
848 Miles Reception: Friday, September 3, 2010
5 - 8 pm
Cronin’s Back from 848 Miles away!
New York artist, Ryan Cronin, makes his triumphant return to Charleston, SC with his solo show at SCOOP studios opening on Friday, September 3, 2010, from 5-8 pm. All new work will be exhibited in his signature style of broad brushstrokes, vivid color with Rust-Oleum paint and humorous commentary on contemporary culture. After an extensive summer art tour up north, Cronin happily ends his season in Charleston with this Labor Day Weekend show that coincides with the “Gallery Row’s” First Fridays on Broad.
Cronin has developed a new sculptural element to his artwork, creating three foot tall “Peeps” bunnies painted bright yellow. Gallery owner, Saramel Evans says, “The bright yellow bunny Peeps have been the eye catching attraction leading in to his art shows. Look for the Pop Art Peeps near SCOOP studios.” Cronin went a step further and created the painting “This One Goes Out to All of My Peeps” with the “Peeps” repeated, like an Andy Warhol piece. Another one of his new paintings was inspired by his last trip to Charleston titled “On the Corner of Queen Street” that portrays a street character that he ran into following dinner.
This exhibit is on display September 3 - 25 during normal business hours, Tuesday - Saturday, 11 am - 5 pm and by appointment. Light refreshments will be served during the artist reception on Friday, September 3 from 5-8 pm and the artist will be in attendance.
